All Time Low, Yellowcard & Fireworks

Ok so where to start. First I guess with an apology I have not been keeping up with this blog that much and I do have afew good reasons for that. First good reason is that soon this blog will be SHUT DOWN and a new and improved website will be in its place. No more free blogspot crap. Secondly I have been a busy guy with weddings and such that I am sure no one else wants to hear about.

Back to the task at hand. The show I went to.

This was All Time Low, Yellowcard and Fireworks presented by http://unionevents.com/. Now I LOOOOOVE me some pop punk. Always have and always will so this show was a huge treat for me and it had a band I have been listening to for a long time (Yellowcard) but had never gotten a chance to see.

First thing I was one of the oldest people there by at least 10 years. Most of the other people in attendance were 12/13 year old girls. So being in the pit was a bit creepy yet I was going to get the shots I needed no matter who got in my way....Yea right haha.

Up first was Fireworks from Detroit. I had never heard of these guys before tonight. They did a good job of warming the crowd up. I won't lie I was not a big fan of their sound. Singer sounds like Steven Page formerly of the Barenaked Ladies. Not being a fan of the sound their stage performance was very good and the fans really enjoyed the set so that is all that matters.

Next on the bill was Yellowcard. I have liked Yellowcard since One for the Kids came out on Lobster Records. I am not a HUGE HUGE fan but anyone that can incorporate a violin into a pop punk band is all good by me! When they went on "hiatus" afew years ago I wasn't sure I would ever get to see them. This night they seemed really on. Then it just kind of stopped... and by stopped I mean Ryan (lead singer) just seemed to give up on the crowd. Granted outside it was -40C and inside was maybe 10C and they had just had bus trouble in Fargo so maybe something was weighing on his mind. In reality it was probably the seated venue that allowed people to just stand there and not move out of their little bubble and just text. He did try afew times that night to resurrect the crowd but all the kids had their eye's and hearts set on All Time Low. I thought Yellowcard had a OK set next time I would like to see them headline and play a smaller club.

For the final act.... All Time Low. These guys have been around for a bit now. Making a little bit of noise on a small indie label Hopeless Records then jumping ship to Interscope were of course it did not work out and then they decided to go back home to Hopeless Records. It seems like every band does this jumping around and why not? Give it a go. As soon as the first member of the band stepped on stage the high pitched squeal of acouple hundred teens and tweens just about blew out my ear drums. As if that was not bad enough before the first song begun there were 3 bras up on stage, by the end of the night I would say there was close to 10-15. Looking the other way from that the music was great! A lively show and the band's enthusiasm lasted the entire show. I was happy to hear the word Fuck being thrown around because alot of bands that have young fans shy away from that. I think that is ridiculous just say it for fucks sake! See how I did that. The only thing I was disappointed in with the whole set was the lack of production value. Afew more lights or something to spruce up that big empty stage with would have been nice.

In summary if your a fan of pop punk Yellowcard is a staple and All Time Low was great to watch it will be interesting to see if their fan base sticks with them or not once they hit their 20's, 30's. Below are the photos from the evening. Enjoy everyone!
